We used this machine to pack our bill runs into the envelopes, add any promotional inserts and seal the envelopes ready to be sent out. We got this machine right before we stopped trading in telecoms and it has only been used for 2 bill runs, so it is in very good condition and has had next to no usage. The machine is very high end, and has a large graphical display screen on the top to configure what you want to do. We purchased this particular machine not because of its blistering speed over other packing machines, but because of its ability to handle the various parts of our bills, which included various graphs and reports for some customers to basic invoices and itemisations for others.

In addition to the standard envelope stuffing and sealing functionality this machine is also fitted with Optical Mark Recognition (OMR), this means that as it feeds in the various pages that it about to pack and seal, it looks at each page and reads the OMR to decide what to do with that sheet based on what you have set on the machines screen.

Speed wise this machine can process up to 3,000 letters per hour. The machines service contract is with FP Mailing, although there are other companies that can provide service and maintenance contracts for this machine. As stated above this particular machine has been fitted with the OMR facility which was an optional extra from FP Mailing on top of the normal machine cost. According to FP Mailing the machine can also be fitted directly to a franking machine although we do not use this option.

If you are genuinely interested in this machine to automatically do all your packing then please do price this machine up for yourself, remembering to include in your quote that it has OMR fitted, as the standard FPi 3030 does not. The price of the machines does not tend to be published on the internet, however we did manage to get a quote for a second hand FPi 3030 for £5,995 + VAT and this was the standard machine without OMR. Also worth noting is that this machine has only ever done 2 bill runs, so although it is second hand it is practically new. It may also be possible for FP Mailing to be able to verify just how little this machine has been used from its internal computer as it may well count the documents it has processed.
